Marital-Reciprocity, American-Style .... [humor? ; Short; Revenge; Marriage; Violence] Poem by Bri Edwards

Marital-Reciprocity, American-Style .... [humor? ; Short; Revenge; Marriage; Violence]

She punched me in the head, ...... that bad wife of mine,
so, in return, I raked a scraper...... down her long spine.
She countered with a big jab into my protruding rib cage,
so I stomped on her right foot; I was filled with MUCH rage.

Twenty-four hours later, she smiled at me; I didn't know why.
So I smiled back at her and walked to her, with a BIG sigh.
She wrapped her arms around me and hugged me real tight.
Sooo I canceled the hitman. NOW it just didn't seem right.

The next day on my way to work I was cut down by gunfire.
A man with a gun spoke to me before I had time to expire.
He said, 'Sorry, Bri, she found out about you hiring me first.
So she hired me then, to satisfy her explosive blood thirst.'

this poem did not know what its ending was going to be until the end. the middle stanza did not know what IT was going to be until after the first stanza was written. i guess i'm not much of a planner. when she smiled, i hadn't even thought of a hitman in the poem. HITMAN............ 'a person hired to kill someone'. they go by other names of course. soldier, marine, airman, sailor. but those are legal ones (depending on who you ask) .

Why, Bri, Do you really try to hint that she aka Secret tried to get rid of you? Can't beleive it. I'm sorry for you, dear Pal. God bless you are still alive and the PH showcase goes on. I like it very much.

No wonder Rudyard Kipling said- 'Oh, East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet'! ! Greatly enjoyed your humorous version of Reciprocity! Happy that my poem turned out to be your inspiration! Kudos to your instant humour! But the end turned out to be too shocking and sad that Bri had to 'expire' with the knowledge of such cruel betrayal!
