Maybe - Poem by londiwe buthelezi

maybe if i change my hair,
or fix my crooked teeth,
He'll finally notice who i am,
see the beauty i have beneath.

Or maybe i should keep my hair,
and leave my crooked teeth,
there's no need to change my looks,
if he can't see the truth.

Make up your mind...and do what you want. The cosmetic industry is a reality too. So is vanity, Beauty pageants. Who are we kidding? Fairness creams, the works. Do whatever you want. And you don't need any one to tell you that (I just did. So there! !)

    Cheers.

Hello Londiwe, pleased to 'virtually' meet you. I feel I know you a little from your biography and I am impressed by it. I liked this poem but felt it should rhyme a little better and so I've taken the liberty to tweak it as below:
I hope you don't mind and I've also corrected the grammar. Come and read some of my poetry if you like.

    Maybe
Maybe if i change my hair,
    or fix my crooked teeth,
    he'll notice who I am,
    and the beauty underneath?

Or maybe I should keep my hair,
    my teeth and unique looks,
for then he'd see just who I am
    the plain unguarded truth.

No-one should be judged from the outside it's the inside that's the most important part of anyone / Love is ok is you play by the rules and be fair because judging is just cruel and heart less! ! (Report)Reply

I enjoyed this very much; simple, short, and very much to the point. Why should I change for someone to see how great I am. They should just see it. If they don't then they don't see the real me. but you say it much better, to bad not everybody can see it this way. Please feel free to read and comment on my works as well. Thank you
