A curtain of gloom
Like evening mist of autumn
Hangs in poetic brain.
A wonderful haiku on melancholy. Top score and to my favourites
I agree with what Susan wrote about those parallel images of Autumn mist and gloom-curtain, the natural feature and the psychological feature reinforce each other. But this points to an intense mood of sadness, it's not the sweet sadness I normally associate with melancholy. This is the devastating melancholy Hamlet experienced, or as Nietszche put it, When you look into the abyss, the abyss looks back at you.Well, that's the surprise of the haiku, it can express so much in so little.

Very nicely done- the image of that autumn mist hanging over the fields and over the mind of the poet was superb.
Thank you Susan for kind comments.
