Memories Of My Mother - Poem by Aanusha Ghosh

A sudden gust
Of pale, mint-scented breeze
Flutters the misted gauzy veil
That separates my past,
The me then,
From this entity,
This consciousness now
And wafts the faint homely smell
Of my mother's perfume
Lavender and frankincense
That still familiar odour of soap
Which lingered on her dresses
And in the air in her wake
Into my tired senses
So bruised and frayed
By rough words
And callused touches
That all memories
Of her soft roundedness
And sweet warmth
Had faded into oblivion

I'm sorry to know about your loss...However coming to your poems..I would say that your non rhymed lines are more profound...it carries that feeling....like in this case..where your feelings pour out...like a song..that would never have come out of yourself...as Shelley rightly said...Our sweetest songs are those that tell of saddest thoughts..do keep pouring out your feelings...you have it in you....keep churning out...
