POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Merle Haggard was one of my favorite singers. He passed away recently.

Every line of the poem consists of one of his song titles. I'm sorry that the letters in his name didn't let me include some of my favorites, such as:

Okie from Muskogee
Working Man Blues
Pancho and Lefty
Big City

and others.

Very clever to use his song titles to create this nice acrostic.

I enjoyed the heck out of this Acrostic- made me smile nostalgically each time I remembered the song and what I was doing when I first heard it. Rodeo dances thrived on Merle Haggard's Okie From Muskogee and Jim Reeves' He'll Have to Go.

I never kept up with his songs. There's one I remember from High school: Don't Think Twice - It's Alright. I always remember him going down the dark side of the road.
