Miami Poem by Sandra Feldman

Miami

Rating: 5.0

Miami has a pickle smell,
A smell that tells you all is well,
You enter in a restaurant,
And eat and eat all that you want.

And there is herring too, you know,
So white that it resembles snow,
'Light Bagels' with some cream and lox,
That even would please Mr. Fox.

Miami how I love your name,
I come and go, you are the same,
Maybe a new hotel or two,
But that won't change my love for you.

Sandra, I love pickles! My mom's home-made dill pickles were the best! And you're right about that smell. It always cheered me up. Still does! Your poem brought back some wonderful memories! Thank you so much!

Dear Khairul, Did not know you had read my Miami. It is one of my favorites, especially, my mother loved it, she thought it was so great and I was so proud it pleased her. She used to make me recite it and I used to be embarrassed. The pickle smell it's true, at the time when you entered in a Delicatessen, it really had a Pickle Perfume, (not made in France, though) That was my inspiration. Glad you liked it and read it, Brings back so many memories, this silly poem. Thanks, Khairul

I'm very pleased to read this cute little poem, which you wrote reminiscing your visits to the place when you were only 15. This knowledge kind of makes it more sweet. ' 'Light Bagels' with some cream and lox, That even would please Mr. Fox.' ...Smiles... Yes, it looks like the writing of a 15 year old. 10/10!

Your comment means a lot to me, Thank you, Mr. Buddy Bee. I am so glad you enjoyed this, wrote it when I was 15. My family and I used to spend a great part of our summers at some grand Hotels in Miami. Sweet reminiscence of days long gone that shall never again be.

I really enjoyed reading this one if that means anything to you. I had a great aunt who used to live right off the beach in a high rise condominium. Gorgeous view of the ocean. She was from WInnipeg. When I visited her, she was baking cookies for imaginary grandchildren who never showed up anymore. She and her husband were so glad to have any visitors, they treated me like royalty. We travelled from their air town car, to an air conditioned restaurant, back to their air conditioned home. It was hot as I could remember a place being outside...I remember thinking, she could do this in WInnipeg and have the grandkids over. We could trade abodes.me live here on the beach of South Florida. I would have made that trade with them...They quite possibly would never have known the difference.,
