My Child - Poem by Shambhu Arvind

My child,
Your eyes so bright...
So smooth your skin,
Shining heart in transient light.

My child,
i see the world in your eyes,
The promise today i make to shield,
You from world's deceit and lies.

My child,
The heavens gifted you in my arms.
Gods, all together bid farewell,
So you could adorn the earthly prams.

My child,
You have become the meaning of my life.
We cringe if destiny befalls,
Holding you lets us forget the daily strife.

My child,
Grow up to be you.
We grow with our sweat and blood,
So that your heart always remain true.

My child,
Thanks for the love we generate.
It makes us strong to think that even after,
We are gone, our story you will narrate.
