The next morning, as I sipped a hot cup of tea
And began writing,
Thoughts flow and I complete a page,
I look up and whom do I see?
My little black and white friend!
Perched on the same mango bough
Staring at me!
I suddenly felt very happy.
She sat quietly without a murmur
Like a pious saint!
I continued my writing,
The philosophy of Ahimsa!
Ahimsa is not a singular path
Of non-violence and non-injury alone!
To attain the status of Ahimsa,
One must follow the path of love and truth,
One must possess compassion, be ready to forgive,
Remain fearless and brave,
Refrain from stealing and lusting, and many more!
So, Ahimsa is a synthesis of several virtues!
After a while, there is a long whistling sound,
That distracts both of us.
It is a squirrel scuttling up and down the branches in great hurry!
My black and white friend now alert, turns and twists her head sharply,
Lifts up her tail at a ninety degrees angle,
And then, with a flutter, suddenly takes off!
For me, it was a sudden enactment of nature's drama,
A watcher's delight!
But with my friend gone out of sight,
I closed my book and put my pen down.
Amazing poem. Your thoughts and nature merged beautifully.
Nature and spirituality is interwoven but your ability to bring them together is amazing. I am only able to perceive nature in the raw as is evident in my poems, your write had tempted me to look beyond, though I do not think that I will be too successful. Thanks Geeta-10
I like the way you conjoin lofty thoughts and the lively scenes from Nature and weave a beautiful tapestry of words! Your birdie pie and the squirrel are so nimble and lively! These characters delight the readers with their typical movements and sounds!
A very impressive poem. I agree with your thoughts that Ahimsa is a synthesis of several virtues!
