It was a joy to see six cormorants return
To the lake this morning along with a stork.
They had been absent for many months
As the fishermen scare them away.
I walk around there so often I notice the
Changing of the seasons, particularly when
Trees die or are blown over in high winds
Or left hanging precariously over the path.
You get to know people, yet you do not
Know them as you only pass the time of
Day, or stop to talk to their dog for a minute
Or help a fisherman land his catch.
Many young mums and courting couples
Walk a few laps as it's only one mile
Around its one path and doesn't take
Long, I can do it in sixteen minutes.
The walk starts in the car park and ends in
The car park however many circuits you
Do, and there is a cafe opposite to relax
Afterwards to meet friends for a coffee.
The trees are mostly bare now, particularly
The London Plane trees facing the main
Road by the brewery where people get an
Amazing aroma when they are brewing.
At the other end, there is a wooden bridge
Over the tributary stream feeding the lake
Where people have put love locks and,
Like me, feed the woodland birds.
It's place where you can switch off or rest
For a while with friends on a park bench,
Or even write a poem leaving the rat race
Behind, I've even painted there,
It's a place to meet for a walk and talk
Yet it is a very lonely place on your own,
Even at nine thirty in the morning when
I get there, nature is just waking up.
Yes, nature is so calm and lonely. But humans messed up everything and destroyed nature. Beautiful poem.
Or even write a poem leaving the rat race Behind, I've even painted there, Brilliant. Yes we all wish to leave the rat race.
Even withour people or birds around, how can one think of Nature as being a very lonely place? ! Even in a desert there is sand, and often sun or stars, and wind, warm days and cool nights. Aren't there? ;) bri
Liked the wooden bridge. It always enhances the beauty of any lake. A wonderful presentation on life yet in my humble opinion I always see nature as a companion when I am alone. It gives me solace. Top Score and to my favorites.
A wonderful story in a beautiful poem. There are lot of images....crystalline images that transported me to the lake and its surroundings and see the beauty of nature. I always like any body of water. It is always magical and a melting pot for animals and human beings.

I would like to translate this poem
Bare London Plane trees does sound a little lonely but the cormorant company indeed a joy! Still the loneliness is there! Thanks for sharing it with us!
If I cannot be with the one I want to be with I'd rather be alone.
