Night Vision Poem by Sonya Florentino

Night Vision

Rating: 5.0

You dance around it on tiptoe
Skimming the surface
Ever so shallow
When will you take the plunge
When will you sink and drown
When will you get to the bottom
where you know it can be found

Only then can you re-surface
Struggling to come up
Gasping for air
Knowing you care
Desperate to win back
Your life
Finally undestanding
The night
Finally knowing
You want to survive
Desperate for light
Which you now search for
With a new pair of eyes

This is at once disturbing and yet full of courage and hope...some things we have to face alone but emerge the stronger for having done that. Great poem, Sonya.

i think everyone has wondered what it's like to die. it's kinda sad tho that we only realize what's important after losing/nearly losing it. this is a really nice poem. :)

A sort of rebirth here Sonya. A coming out of baptismal waters sort of rebirth. Very nice with great flow. Thank you for sharing.

I love this yin-yang analogy - perhaps we can only experience the wonder of our lives if we don't hold back; perhaps its euphoria only becomes clear if we've experienced life's despair. I'm sure this adeptly crafted poem will have an personal meaning for each and every reader - therein lies its beauty. S :)

A meaningful mysterious poem with so much to conceive from it in different ways for it seems to be an insignia that can guide everyone of us to think about the facets of our lives and allow ourselves to face them....

Some great symbols in here about the waters of emotions. Really well done the way you gradually worked through to the conclusion. Sounds just like real life and the way we will tiptoe all around a problem, looking at it from every which way before finally giving in to just tackle the thing finally (hold our breath, step off that diving board..LOL)
