Nirbhaya And The Wild Animals Poem by Parameswaran Nair Damodaran Nair

Nirbhaya And The Wild Animals

Rating: 5.0

Eager to escape from the isolated bus stop,
In the unsafe street where danger lurked
In the nooks of darkness like a hungry wolf,
She signalled to your speeding bus to stop
Her sigh of relief turned to a scream soon
It was to the fire she fell from the frying pan
How earnestly she begged you to spare her:
Where was your mercy and humanity?
You voraciously crushed her feminine sanctity
And crumbled her dignity and honour
She was to you a scared doe trapped in.
And you were to her a pack of wild dogs
That jumped over their prey and tore off her flesh
With thirsty canines and hungry claws.
She fell on your feet and prayed for mercy
Her cries and prayers were subdued
In deafening noise of the flashing bus.
She resisted and fought guarding her virginity.
Until you jabbed through her loin an iron rod
She parried but collapsed with a loud yell
She was a carcass before you necrophiles!
How shamelessly you held your hands
Before justice begging for mercy and life.
Her soul might have been satisfied at least
That you wild animals are hunted out at last

The case was detected in 2012 and we witnessed justice in 2020. Thanks God that it didn't take 80 years but just 8 years

They had no qualms in obliterating an innocent life and when it came to the saving of their own lives, they thought it most important! We can at least feel some relief that they finally got the punishment deserved! A beautiful and powerful summing up of the whole event! Top marks!

Thank you dear poetess. Man is selfish by nature, own life property, people are all dear to them, when it comes in other's case their true version only works. Let us pray for eradication of cruel selfishness

The very thought of Nirbhaya who was brutally torn apart by a pack of wolves makes our eyes still wet! It was the height of human cruelty, no amount of repentance could have atoned. The culprits, however didn't express any sort of remorse and they repeatedly pleaded to spare their lives.

Yes, that is significant. The convicts never expressedd any regret for their hennious crime, . are they not ordinary human beings! . Every humanist must bear this incident in mind. They got what they deserve. Thank you

Very heart touching poem about the incident that shattered the country. Such cruelty is not seen in wild beasts. But their end came with a just punishment. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful poem on Nirbhaya.10++

The events of 2012 very well brought to focus in this beautiful poem. Many breathed a sigh of relief when the perpetrators were hanged at last on 20th March 2020. Eight years for justice in such a heinous crime? What do we aim to prove to the world? That our justice system is most elaborate?

Yes sir, definitely our judicial system is elaborate in its democratic aspects. But the final verdict proves to be just and satisfying. Thank you very much
