Nostalgia - Poem by RoyLivingston Plummer
Thoughts of you wander through my mind,
Filling empty spaces.
Searching intently just to find,
Memories of your smile, of sweet embraces.
Time speeds ahead filling empty days,
I wonder what you're doing at that moment.
I search myself to find the ways,
Of how I could've persuaded you; all I find is time well spent.
Reality hits like a brick wall,
I've come to realize that you needed an escape.
Your voice stil echoes throught these halls,
Through my mind these echoes vibrate.
The days grow dull without your laughter,
Nights grow cold without the warmth of your smile,
I've become such a disaster,
And all I can think of is 'why? '
I drown myself into other things,
But memories often seep into my mind.
I don't think I can ever win,
So I surrender to you this time.
I can feel you, the memories remain,
There are days when you take my hand.
Then I no longer feel the pain,
Because you inspire me to stand.
I hold the memories of you so very close,
And these days the dark clouds have lifted.
Today 'll try to smile I suppose,
It seems the sadness of your departure has drifted.
There's a new beginning to ever end,
To every circumstance, there's a reason.
In my life, you spoke a message with which you were sent,
Some things last a lifetime, others- a season.
