Now I’m Against Deceitful Scrolls Poem by Obed dela Cruz

Now I’m Against Deceitful Scrolls

Now I’m against deceitful scrolls for they just lie.
Scribed by hands whose owners are living with bloodguilt
And whose words are confused because to lies are built.
Now you live but these scrolls will teach you how to die.

The wisdom these scrolls want to impart is from hell
Because life’s bitterest they’ll disguise as sweetness
And the light you see from them is really darkness.
In times of sudden failure they want you to dwell.

Foolish kings searched for truth in them but have found none.
Priests consulted them and they gave bad religion
Now over most people’s minds they have dominion.
Scrolls like these must perish and forever be gone.

I stand against them but who will unite with me?
For with my will alone I can’t unpublish them
And with my strength alone I may just meet problem.
Supreme One, I need Your help. Please make the world free.

These scrolls have already reached the fullest of ugliness.
Let them be despised among the despicable.
Let their words depart from the ears of the people
And let them be found in dirtiness of ashes.

These deadly scrolls let them trouble the world no more.
Let not my eyes again look at the world with sore.

Each person weighs the value of each scroll. With the meeting of minds comes policy
