Ode To The President Poem by Richard Wlodarski

Ode To The President

Rating: 4.5

They are...
Blacksmiths wordsmiths hypnotists
Mayors senators dictators
Terrorists humorists hypocrites
Lovers haters sinners

They are our flesh and blood
Humanity in the flood
We flush them out with our blood
Thinking that they are mere crud

We lie cry and try
Only to say bye
We've killed our own brethren
We were once all God's children

They wage what they call a holy war
And we've seen one too many before
So we'll kill those sons of bitches
Just the same way we burned those witches

We all call ourselves God's children
But we can't live with our brethren
So we'll die alone and go to Hell or Heaven
And if we are fortunate we shall see His children

You have a very good flare for writing about politics and history. Enjoyed your poem true to your words.

Absolutely top-notch writing style, word choice, theme, and in its ability to provoke thought. I am with you- we are all God's children and we should love our sisters and brothers... God does. I am stoked over this. So much so that I am adding it to the fav list and saluting it with a lot of 10's.!

Susan, I'm totally overwhelmed with your response. You not only made my day, but the remaining days of the year. I am greatly humbled and honoured. Thank you so very much.

The war should be stopped. A poetic desire only. Thanks.

A civilized society should preserve all forms of sacred life. The desire is not only poetic, but sincere. Jazib, thank you for reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.

War, killings in the name of religion and for other reasons a very sad affaire. It's time to stop the collisions Where more than innocents, pay the fare. Excellent and long reaching cry against violence, war and murder. In the name of irrational hate.
