Last night I got down on both knees
To pray.
I closed my eyes free in liberation
Letting go of the day,
The way my insides have balled up
Having to keep restrain.
I pray to feel the presence of
Love touch my shoulder, my heart
to strengthen my belief,
To regain my bearings and know that
I am not alone.
Dear father thou in heaven.
I know that I am not perfect. I hold in more
Then I should. In fact I allow way more than I should.
To have and to hold a heart
that treats others the way they'd like to be treated
Comes at a high cost,
Day after day it adds up.
Haven gone the extra mile to find out that
The ones who mistreat you the worst
Are the same ones you've went the distance
for.
There is so much pain, so much turmoil
All around.
Those who commit malicious
Acts just because they can.
Their attacks, malicious as they may be
Take their toil.
Sometimes wild with rage, like a child
Never being told no,
The need to lash out in misunderstanding
Refusing to be healed & soothed in a moment
That feels endless.
Father I come to you with the purest intent,
I pray for them also, more than I do myself.
I ask that you remove what selfish intent that they
May have, whatever misunderstanding
That may be on their mind as well as mine & replace it
With your presence as well as purpose.
That whatever pain subsides is healed
By your touch and yours alone
