On Whom Poem by Eric Cockrell

On Whom

what you gonna do?
and what you gonna say?
when the poor, the homeless,

and the hungry....
kick down your door,
and take back the wealth

you got on their backs?
and on whom
will this crime be laid?

In his book 'The Prophet', Kahlil Gibran, one of my favour poets, wrote a few lines relative to this poem, the book is well worth reading and meditating upon. Interesting Jesus said to the rich man, give away your possessions to the poor and follow me. Hard to steal what you have already given away. Stealing is definitely a sin and robbery of a house a very nasty crime, especially sad when for drugs. I often wonder what a little kindness could have achieved in the lives of youth who suffered our indifference and grew in hate to commit violent crime. A very good thought provoking poem Eric.10+ my friend :) The essence of these sentiments I have for decades now accepted to be 'My brother (sister) hurts I share their pain I meet God in them.' and 'We can best judge the character of a man (or woman) by how they treat those who can do nothing for them.' God bless all who give and care about the suffering of their fellow humanity. Amen.

Yes, on whom indeed? If one keep on abusing your dog, eventually it'll turn on you and attack. I like it... It's no skipping-through-the-tulips kind of poem. We need to face the truth.

To be unfair expect anything you may gain To be only yourself and forget other's pain It's really unfair To sleep at night with a full stomach Forgetting to send the remains of your food tray To sleep on your plushy bed When many homeless has no place to stay Considered positions can change So does something before it be so late. Thanks dear Eric for you and my dear friend Terence Craddock that guided me your great poems page.Very expressive words had inspired me to write those words. With a great honor and pleasure to be one of my friends.
