~ Paean ~ Poem by MS. NIVEDITA BAGCHI SPC. UK.

~ Paean ~

Rating: 5.0

Pre Text: ~ Goddess Durga symbolizes the power of the Supreme Being that maintains moral order and justice in the universe. Durga stands for the unified symbol of all divine forces: ~ Strength, Morality, Protector &c.
In India women are given highest honor as embodiment of motherhood. Many Indian women instead of surname like to use Devi. Devi literally stands for goddess. [For info on Goddess Sri Sri Durga please Google]

Humble submission: ~ This poem is not word by word translation of hymns [Slokas] on Goddess Durga. I sincerely admit my incapability. Here I’ve blended with poetic elements. I’ve given transliteration of Sanskrit Slokas [hymns] in the beginning for interested readers. Hope you’ll find glimpse of Indian view to Motherhood. ~ niv

I like the spiritual blend of poetry with ancient text. Each line opens up for deeper meaning which can be reflected upon in yoga. Excellent work.

What an undertaking you have taken on. I find this fascinating and to be honest had to read it a few times. As I read it more and more I find some interesting parralells to humanity, ancient Greece and Christianity. I think you have given the reader something if they look into, they can learn much. I found it easy to read as far as style and wording. THe reason I read it more than once because I wanted to absorb it all. Reall great work.

it's like poetry written in Ancient Days... I appreciate how people write and talk in the past and i appreciate how people in the present could write and talk like the people in the past!

Great work. You have done really a herculean task in the field of poetry. Transformation of such ancient literature is only possible when someone is committed wholeheartedly to poetry. Such rich language like Sanskrit, its poetic diction, spirit of creation and ultimately the philosophical expansion of those genius who first tried to define the eternity within the finite shape of words and rhythm is really very hard to transform into other language origin. So, for such a great work I salute you hundred times. About your transcreation, I am really spell-bound about your scientific explanation of those literal fragrance yet by keeping your poetic originality. Beautiful. Material outlook you have adopted to bring such ideas of sloaks into our todays intelligence. Intellectuals are no different in hemispheres. They always think in the same way indifferent in continent, country and villages. So I think the thinkers will be able to filter the light from this poem oriented with so much devotional submissions. Ultimately you have tried to transform the Indian ancient thoughts by the knowledge of today. Great. Regards, pranab
