Perpendicular Leaves Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Perpendicular Leaves

Dusk fades into dawn.
The leaves outside begin to rustle,
Laying their heads down for moments longer.
Indiscreetly dwelling against the sound of each other.

The leaves outside begin to rustle.
Placing their touch carefully as possible.
Careful not to disturb the Sun's slumber,
As in the shadows, a marriage is proposed.

Placing their touch carefully as possible.
Aware of the conjugal visits taken here and there.
As the tree, a pilgram adhering to their wishes.
Independent.

Aware of the conjugal visits taken here and there.
A dry sentiment made moist as oblivion approaches.
An elastic humus planted at the root.
Baring more fruit as the tree bared witness.

A dry sentiment made moist as oblivion approaches.
Laying their heads down for moments longer.
Indiscreetly dwelling against the sound of each other
