You can skip a meal
But you cannot miss
TELEVISION,
Even for a single day in India.
This is a reality, dear Poet Roald Dahl
That we need to accept with calm demeanour.
TV is not fun time for children alone,
TV is relaxing time for all mature adults as well.
TV is not just for the rich and famous alone,
TV is for the poor hutment dwellers as well.
This is the truth, dear Poet Roald Dahl
That we need to realise with much grace.
The hard- working people of Mumbai
Who spend most part of their lives
Commuting between home, office and back
In heavily crowded suburban trains or buses
TV comes as a big boon!
It is the only recreation they have in their lives
In every mansion, house or hut
In Mumbai, there is a TV.
People forget their worries and sorrows
As they get immersed in the TV shows or films.
TV helps them to release all their tensions, anxieties,
TV helps them to forget their struggle and poverty.
TV is a medium to reach far and wide,
The people get a glimpse of every country
They enjoy the movies and sports of the world,
Isn't it a wonderful advancement in technology?
That you are aware of the news of this world
While sitting inside your cosy home?
Dear Poet Roald Dahl!
I agree with you that there are disadvantages
While you gape, loll, slop and stare at the TV screen.
Your eyes may pop out and fall too, on the carpet,
At the same time, we have to admit most truthfully
That Television is an entertainment par excellence!
We need to accept with calm demeanour. Now TV is widely accepted in our country and other countries too. It is is a medium to reach far and wide people get glimpse. There are disadvantages but there are advantages too. People should accept the positive perspectives. A brilliant poem is excellently penned.....10

I would like to translate this poem
'Ode to.... Roald Dahl 2' is equally riveting and extensive in its portrayal of the role of television as a means of easy and inexpensive entertainment for a common man. Thanks, Geeta ji. You have taken a panoramic view of television and its role in our everyday life.
