Pyramids Poem by Nosheen Irfan

Pyramids

Rating: 4.7

The mysterious triangles
Rising from the desert sand
Stand obstinately and regally
Through the rise and fall of kingdoms
Storms swirled around their pointed heads
Sand shifted madly below their feet
Time couldn't uproot them
Wars couldn't defeat them
They stand in primal glory
Awaiting a decline
To become the dust they came from.

You are a poet worthy of the pyramids. I would like to think that they will never return to sand. That is of course an impossible wish but they represent something that is a testament to humanity. I want to think that long after we are all gone they will inspire poems and the sand will continue to shift madly below their feet and stars will always shine in impossible brilliance in the eternal nights.

Turning Ozymandias on his head! Could that be why the pyramid was in fact invented? This is a terrific poem, Nosheen.
