Random Knocks On The Door Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Random Knocks On The Door

Rating: 5.0

Upon my door came a strange knock.
At what ungodly hour.
Such a strange time in my life.
I started not to answer but again the knocks repeated.
As I laid there tossing and turning.
I got up and walked to the door.
I stood there contemplating in uneasy fashion.
Regretting the fact I painted over the peep hole.
I walked closer to the door,
An utter silence occurred.
I placed my hand on the knob ready to open it at the next knock.
Surprised that the next knock didn't occur.
I stood there wondering whom it could have been.
My heart elevated, feeling like it was caught in my throat.
I had an perfect idea, one that I knew whom it was.
In fear I still didn't open the door.
I could see her face so perfectly standing behind the door.
The smile I pictured she'd have.
The way her hair would sit perfectly upon her head.
But still I did not open the door.
Stubborn to the fact it may have been a salesman.
Ready to sell me another false hope, disappointed at the thought
if it wasn't her.
Especially at such an ungodly hour.
I found it pointless just standing there.
Until I opened the door and saw it was her knocking on the door to my heart
all along
