Reflection - 2 Poem by David Beckham

Reflection - 2

Rating: 5.0

Shades of life, underneath this brilliant sun
On the fence about this place; my earth
Talk of, bags of joy; brewing with the agony of defeat
In a palace of plenty, not much thought to this
But as a common perhaps, I look life in the face and I count myself lucky
The look on my face though, is both dead and alive
Then I wonder … "what if"
What if mom hadn't married dad?
Won't be no me nor this gift I share
If ever there was a choice you made that I am very proud of
It is this: That you choose dad over him
But a second later, I am reminded
Dad wasn't always the best for you
Might you have stayed with your true love,
And lived the life you wanted for yourself?
I'd never known life, nor smelt the wake of day
What then was good for you?
Me, dad or him?
Allow me to indulge in selfish plea and accept the outcome of my life
For even dad is the best thing that happened to me
If with guilt I indulge in: "what if"
Still with guilt I prefer the option of being born
And to that, I am thankful to you both

Brewing with the agony of defeat. Brilliant. Although my father and his side are dead to me.

Wow...this is so true in many ways...I mean how many what ifs can we have in our lifes...I often think if my father had not taken the boat to New Zealand I would not be here right now...shakes my head heaven forbid what I be or how I would of turned out....shivers. This David is a brilliant poem I loved its flow have you thought about using stanza's in your poetry...looking forward to reading more.
