Saints And Sinners/ Ordinary Folks

Rating: 5.0

Saints like to gladden people
Sinners love to sadden people

Ordinary folks love to live
Saints live to love.

Ordinary ones take from life
Saints give to life.

Ordinary people live to eat.
Saints eat to live.

Sinners take lives
Saints save lives!

Saints love to hate no one
Sinners hate to love anyone

Sinners commit sacrilege
Saints commit to sacrifice.

Ordinary people just live
Saints live and let live.

The sinner bows to the world
The saint bows to his Lord God.

Sinners live for the world
Which is temporary
Saints live for God
Who guides to eternity

The ordinary one may glorify God
but God Himself praises the saint.

Now it's up to us to be either saints or sinners
In the eyes of God to be losers or winners.

A snappy collection of truistic observations. Superficially, we can find much to agree on here. I, too, like the discrimination between saints, sinners, and ordinary folk. This poetic piece stays in the sunshine, though, and does not venture into the shadows of the complexity of life.

Truistic hmm? U do criticise much today. It may sound truistic but we all need reminders to wake up the sleeeping saint in us and discourage hate in this world even if it may sound cliche. And im not the only one who may touch on the obvious. Im a simple poetess and i hope we can love and one another despite the complexities and not make peace so complex. Cheers n best wishes.

May we all strive to be so much more a saint than a sinner. Ordinary people? are they the lukewarm people who never bring themselves to strive to be a factor in life? Enjoyed reading your reflections on the nature of saints and sinners!

My dear poet, your poem gave me much pleasure in contemplation and meditation. Unfortunately, b/c PH is limiting comments to 300 characters, my disconnected comments seemed more like criticisms than musings.

Most thought-provoking. There is a real contrast between saints and sinners in the world, a dichotomy. As I live more, I have more regard for ordinary people, who do not want to be noticed. Is sainthood a realistic goal? I have thought a lot about that.
