Sequence Of Dreams - Poem by Ted Christopher

A world within a world
Where fantasy becomes reality
And make believe is something to believe
In dreams
Comes a darkness, this complete blackness
Creates visions, that line up
In sequence

I was running, running out of time
And I was searching, searching for what was mine
And I am coming, coming faster by train
Over rough terrain

I am withering, withering down
Gathering, gathering things around
But losing, losing what I found
Without a sound

I was trying, trying to figure it out
Just wanting, wanting to live it out

In a sequence of dreams
Nothing is the way it seems
Imagining things
In a sequence of dreams

I was falling… in another day
Throwing… this all away
Hopeing… you would stay
If only… there was a way
To go back... to yesterday
And bring you back... today

In a sequence of dreams
Nothing is the way it seems
Imagining things
In a sequence of dreams

I saw her coming
This dream of overcoming
My fears
I was drowning
To the top
I was climbing
Where I was reaching
For this opening
Into,
One
I am out of the other
Going through
In need of another
Beautiful girl
An ocean pearl
This fantasy world
In which I live in

A sequence of dreams
Waking me up when she screams
Life is not the way it seems
In a sequence of dreams

I was sinking
Or was I staying afloat
In a river
Outside a boat
In need of a coat
Then I can float
To where it is real
Not spinning on a wheel
Like imagination
Being all that I feel

In a sequence of dreams
It is the way it seems
In a sequence of dreams

I am running, running out of time
And I am searching, searching for what is mine
In a past, in a past that I can not seem to find
A present, a present to unwind
So unkind

Is this

I found myself
In a sequence of dreams
Just living
In a sequence of dreams

Where reality is my fantasy
And fantasy is my reality.
