Sketch Of A Shared Sunset Poem by Savita Tyagi

Sketch Of A Shared Sunset

Sun was setting on hills
Shadows across valley elongating
Creeping, covering tall stone like figures
A dark light descending-
Miles and miles of hills covered
In a mysterious truth
Held in silence.

Peace covering strife
Close your eyes and follow the shadows!
My arms long and elastic
Wrapped around you in silence-
Stretching, moving
Spreading across valley.

Sun goes down
Sky changes colors-
Not enough clouds around!
sun set isn't that magnificent!
Neither are we...

Stillness soaks in
Small crowd disperses
Shared images locked in a
Promised return of tomorrow.

Images of the sunset captured by mind's camera. Beautiful poem. Thank you.

It's still very nice to share a sunset with others even if it isn't the most wonderful sunset. Not every sunset can be spectacular. Nor every day. Nor every person. But the promise of another day gives us each a chance for things to be better.

my favorite lines: Not enough clouds around! sun set isn't that magnificent! Neither are we.... well, certainly in some ways we humans, especially as individuals, are not that magnificent/not so special or important [OR significant], , , , , , , . when compared to galaxies, continents, past and perhaps future civilizations, a drop of water, a colony of ants, or a jungle of thousands of plant species. BUT, as individuals, we ARE often magnificent to someone, sometime, somehow. ok, i'm one of the exceptions! and i won't hear any rebuttals! sometimes we, too, may need a collection of clouds/other people/things around us to help us appear/feel magnificent/significant. thanks for sharing, Savita. this is now #23 in my/our August 'showcase for PH poets on my PH site. bri :)
