Song-Τραγούδι Poem by Kostas Lagos

Rating: 5.0

The blackbirds sing when they're in love

and the swans when death they confront

But the nightingales only sing

when in freedom they live

That's why their song

is the most melodious.

" The swan song is a metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement. The phrase refers to an ancient belief that swans sing a beautiful song just before their death, having been silent during most of their lifetime. Wikipedia" but isn't death a kind of freedom? ? and a free person may love......though once married/partnered the (formerly) free person may no longer be free! ! ! bri ;)

A beautiful poem that sings. Wonderfully penned. We sing the most melodious tunes when our heart is free like the nightingales' song.10
