Springs Lament (For Tina) Poem by David Wood

Springs Lament (For Tina)

Rating: 5.0

Daffodils open the season of spring,
They were the last spring flower she saw.
Now new grass and blossom does sing
Springs song as cold frosts begins to thaw.

Nature opens it's arms with new life,
But with springs joy comes such sadness.
As spring, April, was the time I lost my wife,
And now what is gone is any gladness.

She sleeps now in that soft patch of earth
That I visit, and on a warm day, to sit, or lay
Chewing a blade of grass, for what its worth,
And there spend the best part of the day.

Now, a long lonely decade has past by.
I remember her last kiss, still fresh and new,
As I said ‘I love you' over and over with a cry
And her final words, ‘I love you too'.

Beautiful. I love the line where you sit, and chew a blade of grass, the totality of being in the moment. Pure poetry.
