Strawberry Blond Poem by William Jackson

Strawberry Blond

Rating: 5.0

Thursday- 2: 10 a.m.-
I still haven’t written anything.
So much for creative expression
in the early hours after midnight.

I had hoped to write a poem
but instead only pondered
William Blake’s proverb.
“The nakedness of woman, ”
he said, “is the work of God! ”

And this prompted me
to contemplate you,
my favorite strawberry blond.

Tell me-
how can I not notice
your playful laughter
and articulate mind,
your delicious mouth,
red lips, freckled cheeks,
and blue eyes?

Tell me-
how can I not notice
your sleek neck,
delectable shoulders,
exquisite breasts and hips,
your delicate hands,
and electric touch?

And while I acknowledge
the inappropriateness
of these thoughts,
they will linger
nevertheless!

All too soon,
the day will begin
and I must dream,
dream of you,
(if only
for a little while) ,
dream you
out of my mind,
if I am to think
of anything else
throughout the day.

I agree with Francis, indeed, that's what I intend to do by taking it as a favorite. GW62
