Suicide—a Grim Reminder Poem by Walterrean Salley

Suicide—a Grim Reminder

Suicide—just a grim reminder
Of how unhappy a soul could be
That one would choose death over life
In desperation to be free.

Suicide—just a grim reminder
Of how difficult life can be:
The pain and darkness of the struggle.
The bright side that one cannot see.

But suicide is never the answer
Only if its victims could see,
The sadness that they feel today—
Which dims their life—won’t always be.

The pain and hopelessness of despair
Is not beyond the scope of repair.
