Tanu: My Sister Poem by Nikhat Bano

Tanu: My Sister

Rating: 5.0

A lily truth herself, a soul so pure,
who gets amused just by the sight,
of humble lilies of her courtyard;
Swaying during day, smelling during night.

You're a monk of your cloister
contemplating with your lilies;
These simpletons are glorified
by your pristine presence and your smiles.

Every spring, news of its first bloom
she shares with people, she loves;
Every time overpowered by ecstasy
when she counts their blooms.

Love you for the simplicity you've,
adore you, as you've many folds;
May the stardust rain over your lilies!
Paint them all from peach to gold!

You're an oasis in the desert of life,
your aura has gilded your lilies;
You've given them reasons to smile
without you, they'd have been just lilies.

They're as thrilling as their fragrance,
and you're a sober queen of your mansion;
These peachy pages are from your almanac.
May your reign lasts, forever in your Sahn!

Tanu, is my cousin sister who lives with her parents and works as a computer programmer. Unfortunately she is suffering from an incurable disease called Muscular Dystrophy. This picture is of her little courtyard showing lily plants, which she is proud of. Every spring she sends me pictures of its first bloom and every summer she also This time I decided to pay a tribute to her zeal by writing a poem about her lilies.

An excellent poem. Well executed and written. I would not include the one cliche in this poem. It detracts from its excellence.

Pleased I read your notes of Tanu and her disability. The joy a garden can bring is beautiful with the freshness of nature. I also like the idea of framing your words for Tanu. A wonderful poem.

Exquisite portrayal of a special relationship between a girl with physical disability and her flowers. Thanks. You've given them reasons to smile without you, they'd have been just lilies.

Dr. Bano, this is such a heart-warming poem. It clearly shows your strong love for her. Perhaps you can send her this poem framed with her lilies. Together with your love, it will do her a world of good. Congratulations on this tribute poem being selected as Poem Of The Day! Truly well-deserved!
