We skipped through the streets of our childhood,
We played in the woods with a smile,
The bluebells lay there all around us,
A sight that made life worthwhile,
We sang in the morning assembly,
The hymns that our forefathers sang,
We hastily ran down the old stone steps,
As soon as the school bell rang,
And heading off home at the end of the day,
Our chatter filling the air,
On opening the door of the home that I loved,
My Mum would be waiting there.
She'd give me a smile,
Then we'd chat for a while,
I still see her smile today,
Then I'd race to the park,
Heading home before dark,
A wonderful end to the day.
All is not lost,
My youth maybe gone,
But those memories are with me to stay,
Of this village of mine,
Those memories so fine,
So precious in every way.
