The Color Of Blood Poem by Cowboy Ron Williams

The Color Of Blood

Rating: 5.0

Mother didn't like
violence
or blood
or war
and didn't want to see
any of that displayed
in living color,
so our first TV set
was, by her choice,
black and white only.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is not actually true of my own family, but a very good friend of mine says it actually happened in his family. I told him that he should write about it and post it on Poem Hunter, and that if he didn't want to, I would. He told me to go ahead, but to leave him and his mom out of it. So I have.

A wonderful poem with a meaningful message. A timely write. War must be abhorred in all its forms. I am glad that you posted this poem.

Nice poem. All that we need is peace not innocent blood..

Wow! That sounds like something that many people in my small town would have done. So true to life back then! Five star worthy slice of life!

I'm glad 'Mom' got her way. My dad was a TV baseball fan; there's not much blood in baseball. : )

But there IS SOME. I have been bloodied more than once in a baseball game. Thanks for commenting, Bri.

I vaguely remember TV coverage of the Vietnam 'conflict' aka war which lasted about 10 years+. I don't recall seeing (red) blood, I guess because MY mom & dad had only B&W while I was still at home. : ) bri
