The dimly lit room with a candle
Her finger tips dripping in blood
Dance on the piano keys slowly
Kissing the music with her broken pieces
And the darkness envelops her body
Comforting her insecure heart.
The tears fall off her eyes silently
Ignoring the eyes of the walls
Sliding down her smooth, warm cheeks.
And her dress still carries the smell of his perfume
Her thoughts compel her to set it on fire
So with her bleeding fingers
She paints her face
Then pushes the candle stand down on her gown
And the silk caught fire.
Engulfing the petals of the roses he brought
Reaching the skin, he kissed
And now she's numb and confused
To cry for her death?
Or for her fake lover?
Whom she loved deeply…
Lying on the ground in dappled light
Her eyelids dance to permanent closure
And peace shines on her face
Brighter than the candle flame.
Hi Asavri, Lovely rendering. I am taken by surprise by your lines: And darkness envelopes her body Comforting her insecure heart... Wow! What an awesome imagery... I am reminded of the famous lines by Great Malayalam Poet. Akkitham: Velicham dukkhamaanunnee Tamassallow sukhpradham.... Meaning, Light is harbinger of sadness, my dear! Darkness is comforting... Great people think alike!
Very impressive write, Asavri Dhillon. You may like to read my poem, Love And Iust. Thank you.
