The Earth Is Her Kingdom Poem by Hazel Durham

The Earth Is Her Kingdom

Rating: 5.0

She is the wild, intimate wind rushing across the land,
Like her instinct for impulsive love,
She blends in with the rain sodden clouds above,

Her hair sparkling with the jewels of
raindrops
Clinging onto her golden brown strands,
Her faith is in the soil and the growing crops,

Her truth is the birds in flight
And foxes prowling on star filled nights
She is part of nature's law,

With her acceptance of making mistakes but she puts them right,
Love for her land soaks deeply into her green oasis eyes,
The land is God's plan,

To reach out to fragile crops of the soul,
She never run's away
From her earthly ways,

As the moon, sun and stars
Are friends never too far
Reaching out to ripen orchard apples,
crops and souls

To ripen her emotional complexities
And to bloom under her friend the
shattered sun
Peeping from rain sodden clouds sharing
unpredictable fun,

Her life is her impulsive heart and soul
beating with nature
And the shimmering sun,
She looks across her land and love sit's
on its mighty throne,

The earth is her kingdom and her beloved one.

This poem could have been written in the 18th century! It has that romantic, pastoral, and rhapsodic notes of humans in harmony with the Nature: it is jocund, free-spirited, bucolic and bohemian; it dances on the rhythm of its own: it is free as the heroine of it!
