The Shore's Promise Poem by Rose Marie Juan-austin

The Shore's Promise

Rating: 5.0

Addiction is like a quicksand.

It pulls you down,
down,
down --
to the deepest
and darkest bottom.

But remember --
no matter
how deep it pulls,
if you reach for the light,
the shore is still there,

waiting...
offering a sense of hope.

It IS God's Wonder that I can give comments now. For almost one and a half years, I could not.

Beautifully penned! Indeed, hope is always there, even when the world tells us that there is none left! This piece makes me think of all the people who suffer from addictions... it is so sad that so few of them even strive for the shore or choose to see that it's there. My heart hurts for them.
