There is a Smile of Love
And there is a Smile of Deceit
And there is a Smile of Smiles
In which these two Smiles meet
And there is a Frown of Hate
And there is a Frown of disdain
And there is a Frown of Frowns
Which you strive to forget in vain
For it sticks in the Hearts deep Core
And it sticks in the deep Back bone
And no Smile that ever was smild
But only one Smile alone
That betwixt the Cradle & Grave
It only once Smild can be
But when it once is Smild
Theres an end to all Misery
You smile and the world smiles too You cry the saddest moan you shall find it's only you...... Congrats for being chosen.....
A poignant rendition nicely crafted with clarity of thought and mind. An insightful work of art.
The subject of a person's smile is not really simple, as Blake implies. Most smiles express love and friendliness, but some men deceive with a smile. So true. The frown is always negative and signals rejection or incomprehension, which is annoying and hard to take. It has happened to me countless times. A true smile, however, ends all misery. A great poem.
A great poem by the wonderful poet William Blake. True classic poetry. : -)
