They Slipped My Eye Poem by Julia Luber

They Slipped My Eye

Rating: 3.8

They looked milk toasty and washed out -from that perspective,
in that proportioning to the hubbub of the day. Tacky and fake
from afar. I did not look closely. I did not see their exquisite brilliance.
And they are the most miraculous of the bunch. I came to the alter
with assumptions. I missed them. They slipped my eye. I gaze upon
them wondering what happened to my acumen on those. And hope
it's all there plus some next time. I think. I muse. I ruse why.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Wondering why the exquisite perfection of certain art pieces did not register to my eye
when I had a chance to buy them.

Is it true you OWN the ORIGINAL copy #1945 of Mona Lisa? What a treasure! ! bri ;) btw, 'slip of the tongue' is an idiom meaning 'A small mistake made when speaking' (cont.)

I love this analogy of my poem to that kind of 'gem' that could slip by one and what could be a greater compliment! All of my appreciation! Thank you so much!
