This Virus Of Doubt Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

This Virus Of Doubt

Rating: 5.0

Well, left to most of us
We sure would like to trust,
But thanks this virus
Most of our trust seems bust.

We scarce can step out
And not feel suspicious,
Nor yet without
Seeing everywhere this virus!

Did the man next to me cough?
Why is she wearing a face mask?
Vigilance wakes us up to our task,
He in front just suppressed a sneeze,
No…towards me blows the breeze,
He sure is hiding something,
Out in open I must that bring.
Good, this child no symptoms show,
Still, ailments do for a while dormant go,
Oh God, I've had it enough!

It seems, fear psychosis
Might kill many, much before
Corona Virus this;
Back home, on ‘precautions' I pore over.

Through all times and ages we have had so many epidemics that had become pandemics and after some time all come to their end again, such a way a myriad times, a dangerous virus, so many kinds, we are all the survival of the fittest, the oldies gonna die and the yioung ones recovered. It be SARS or the newest one CORONA. What's in a name? You created sublimest poem, Aniruddha Sir! The Netherlands is annually attacked by the Flu.

'Through all times.... Words of wisdom indeed, dear poet Sylvia FC, but, '...oldies gone a die...drew my attention.. I can be included in that lot and I too thought so when I was down with a little common cold, and under strict instructions of the younger brother who is a medic... Thanks dear MB, common cold had become almost a friend visiting regularly and then leaving as well. But the mutant Covid 19 has been a fiend.

There is an element of fear everywhere. So true that this fear psychosis will do more harm than the virus itself. I have been suffering from cold and slight temperature since almost two weeks. Every year with a steep rise in temperature, I get this. Unfortunately this time I am under house arrest. It is voluntary....! I know it is not Covid, but why scare people! You have beautifully enumerated the psychological impact of the pandemic!

Yes indeed, precautions are, it is good to be prepared, but over-reaction does its own harm. Thanks dear poet.
