Could I go back seventy years ago,
Seventy sixty nine sixty eight or so,
When I was a boy of only nine,
Clouds were mine and thunders were mine,
Cold winter, cloudy weather, and rains,
Past pleasures and present pains!
Weather appeared as a beautiful maid!
Alas! Now it appears as an enemy's raid.
The beauty in a chocolaty rain coat,
Making from paper a beautful boat,
Not afraid of cold rains and sleets,
Careless of mud when we made the fleets,
Where has sunk that mighty naval rage,
In the ocean of too grown old age!
The old man is praying for sunshine,
Nothing except a blanket that is mine!
Beautiful poem, Sir Akhtar. A great read as always. Brilliant analogy of the young and the old abounding with compelling images. Top Marks and to my favorites!
