Untitled (1-30-06) Poem by Amberlee Carter

Everything is about him-
and on days when I feel
like drinking the stash of wine and whiskey
he’s saving for a special occasion- instead
I disappear into the seams of his obsession for me
and my masochistic tendencies.

Once we shared a kiss, that was more like
putting your naked tongue into the fiery hiss
of a comet’s tail; because we loved with a love
greater than gravity.

But now; his words have made my heart
like the surface of that comet; frozen solid
and impossible to grow the sweetest of all blossoms.

we have a saying back home that tongue has no bones but it can break bones.. well it can break hearts as well and restrain the love that blossoms through the garden of our souls. great poem Amberlee with emotional lines and well described feelings. i like both ending and start, they gave both sides of love. well done! Very nice work here, Amberlee. I agree with Sean in that the ending says it all. I'd go for the whiskey, though. Wine gives me a headache!

Impressive poem, I like it. I think these lines say it all: 'like the surface of that comet; frozen solid and impossible to grow the sweetest of all blossoms.' I think there is a suggestion here that love (sweetest of all blossoms) is unreachable when these thoughts take control. Am I right? Very deep and interesting. All the best, Seán

'I disappear into the seams of his obsession' - excellent line. Nice poem too.
