Unwrapping Chocolate Truffles Poem by Amanda Lukas

Unwrapping Chocolate Truffles

I want a man that makes me want to write again.
Not too much to ask for, I surmise.
A man who's eyes I can stare into and see stars,
or more importantly,
eyes that show the soul and not the superficial reflection of arm candy.

I'm tired of the cheaters, the liars, the loonies.
Bored with being someone's trophy.
I want to be his best friend.

Does anybody listen anymore?
Have I really become one of Those Who are Seen and Never Heard?
Being treated as the wrong kind of treasure.

Someone will realize, one day,
that there's more to a chocolate truffle
then that damned golden foil wrapper.
