Venice Poem by Mihaela Pirjol

Venice

Rating: 4.3

I swing my heart on Vivaldi's ‘Spring':
Blissfully I dance amongst the flowers!
Echoes in the ether—violin on strings,
And I promenade at rosy twilight-hours.

O sweet, nostalgic, dreamy Venice!
If only I could live in that epoch:
With curls, silk, satin, pearls, and lace:
Venice...Art in majestic grandeur!

Parade in crinolines and lovers in disguise:
Mysterious, opulent, lascivious Carnival!
Love's secrecy hidden in the flirty eyes
As amorous Casanova—sensual and carnal!

The twisted channels made for losing
Yourself in serenade, wine, masks, and beauty;
Adorned with sheen in San Marco Piazza posing:
Floating on a gondola at night...such beauty...!

Oh, book my passage immediately! I m-u-s-t get there in or out of carnival season - it doesn't matter, because our desires, protected by the night, indulged by la dolce vita, will be fulfilled. It's the nature of the place, the magic of its aura, attested by every line of your poem. And your poem promises: THE TWISTED CHANNELS MADE FOR LOSING YOURSELF IN SERENADE, WINE, MASKS, AND BEAUTY. Will my ticket include carte blanche?

nice poem, Mihaela, I like the inner music of your lines. Thanks for sharing. Quando hai visitato Venezia? Sei stata anche a Firenze?
