We laugh, we smile, we cry
And after we ask WHY?
These few words hold all of what humanity feels and does, but has no understanding or answers of why we do any thing when our lives are only temporary. Profound and enlightening, thank you for sharing. RoseAnn
A short poetic masterpiece that beautifully sums up life! Thank you, Sandra.
And sometimes it is hard to figure out why- -especially the laughter, I think. Humor- It is the hardest thing for me to attempt to write. Laughter bubbles up out of us for many reasons- I prefer the laughter that is just an expression of joy in living. But sometimes it is provoked by an awkward trip and fall, or a joke that has a bit of a bite, or a sharing of common experiences. Sandra! ! ! ! ! You have in two lines sent your reader into a bottomless pit of philosophic musing, meditation, and meanderings! ! ! I love how you started this rather huge undertaking with so few words cleverly placed. Shakespeare would have made a great character of you in one of his plays, a wise woman mentor to a King.

Yes, WE do ask WHY? Many people do not, and that's not a bad thing given our troubled consciousness. It may be expedient not to think about the nature of life its satisfasctions, its ambiguities, its disappointment, it may be simply less stressful to coast from one event to another without trying to make them cohere, without worrying about broken connections. Hmmm. Not to take the challenge of discovery, not to enter and explore the interior self, not to risk failure - that doesn't sound like a poet's way of being, a creative person's way. Sandra's way.
