They say a woman's hair
is her crowning glory, and
I half believed it, until
I became aware of the curve
your mouth, when you are near me.
They say a woman should surrender
to a man's superior thinking.
I laughed that they could not
grasp her fierce wit.
They say a woman's voice peaks
and declines rapidly. No, it is
the hearing of men which declines.
They stop listening to her intently,
and fail to appreciate her special charm.
They say composers contend to write
music that fits her voice. But I know
as one who stood in the shadows
as she sang, everything we heard was pure sound.
I half believed it, until I became aware of the curve your mouth, when you are near me.
I totally agree with the stance of poetess Aarzoo. A great poem.
ah, brother daniel, " a man after my own heart" is what i'm thinking. after e.b. browning, we could write, how do we love them? let us count the ways. obviously, the " they" in " what they say" are prone to underestimation, to put it mildly. -glen
Daniel Brick is a poet or psychologist? I don’t know, shedding light on hidden aspects of a woman’s world that not every men can reveal, here Daniel tells us that the women’s world is so big and deep, like post-modern poems sometimes many contradictions meets there, In order to know what people say and what Daniel say about women, you have to read this poem carefully. Thank you for this amazing piece of work 10/10
even Daniel Brick as a professional poet doesn't spend all his time to write about a woman, but when he writes; it would be perfect poem, such as this poem.. well done and it goes onto my fav list.
