What We've Been Through Poem by Laquory Jones

I got Covid so many things in
This past year has me frigid
Each passing day I get more livid
As I try to mold this clay in a
Poetic way I'm exploding through
The ink while trying to give this
All that I have naysayers laughed
So I've added them to my hit
List gloves off no mittens
As I try to get back to a time
When everything was more
Peaceful it seems as if the world
Had come to a stand-still
Just been feeling as if I've been
Standing upon an ant-hill
Though my mind's tranquil

I'm becoming more like Edgar Allen
With the pendulum swing
Last year gave us an frenulum sting
Lets see what 2021 will continue to
Bring because I haven't yet seen
The grass greener only pendulous
Branches outside my window
While the howling of the wind
Slowly tapping into these thoughts
That it starts a crescendo
Tell me why could it all be simple
Now these thoughts gathering in
Tempo these words becoming
Thunderous in nature because
Some things just don't sit right
I Just sit here wondering how can I
Get by get a piece of a break pie

I have friends that sit and roll dice
But that doesn't provide them with
Insight light matches and ignites
As my thoughts begins to soar and
Then takes flight almost thirty years
You sit there contemplating on life
Trying to chisel a block of ice before
It fizzles a way out just to have
Your head stuck creeping in doubt
You begin to sit there and just shout
As the doubters get more louder
Anxiety and anxiousness becomes more
Shrouded as you try to figure yourself
Out It's as if you've been socked in
The dang mouth lately I've been
Going through these bouts

Especially last year when everything
Had gone south I know the same
Could be said for you just know
I feel your pain as well I feel as if
We as a society have failed but that's
Me thinking out loud I just hope we
Can get through this together
Somehow because we're stronger
When we're strengthening our
Bonds (yeah) united we stand
Through the testaments of time
Coming back stronger than we
Did before that's for sure (yeah)
