When I Shall No Longer Be... Poem by Mihaela Pirjol

When I Shall No Longer Be...

Rating: 5.0

The sea-waves break against the cliffs,
Like thoughts against my skull;
The sea-gulls squawk inside my heart:
‘There was so much madness in love! ' she says.
—Love, how you have defeated Time!
How you have defeated my heart!
I am old, but you are growing
Younger—and younger, in my memory...

Sea, I am no longer calm in your agitation!
—I am tired of your splendour!
You are content in your ancient existence,
Whilst my dream has drowned in your womb:
No children of mine shall bathe
In your saline freshness... —I shall perish!
You shall survive! But, O sing to me your melody,
When I shall no longer be...

Dream and love associate with mind with amazing feelings. The sea-waves break against the cliffs and thoughts against skull arise. Inner melody with natural perception sings for long time. An interesting poem is excellently penned.10
