When Robins Called My Greed Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

When Robins Called My Greed

Rating: 5.0

Through windows' widely open frame
Two robins once to my house came
And surveyed everything they saw,
I watched them whilst with wide-eyed awe.

From one corner to the farther,
And from sitting room to the ‘ther,
Flying from ceiling fan to fan,
Wondering on greed of a man!

Why on earth they need such big nest?
She seemed to tell to her boy friend,
I don't think they expect new guest,
We as do our chicks this month end.

Wonder if we can our modest
Nest build inside their sprawling nest.
Stop building castles in thin air,
He said: tree's fine for us and fair.

Nature always does seem to have a good understanding of our limitations. It first seems to give us reminders of our folly. Eventually, it is compelled to act...we always seem to learn lessons the hard way. This is a great poem...straight to myfavourites.

Stop building castles in thin air, He said: tree's fine for us and fair. Every creature has its limitations. Making castles in the air is attributable to the greed of man. Thank you Pathakji. LOKA SAMASTA SUKHINO BHAVANTU

Thanks dear KM. I always liked these small birds. They too like pigeons found homes as good and safe places for their nests, but between the two sparrows have cleaner habits. I always felt they must be noticing man's spendthrift and greedy habits.

Yes I will dear PP. A pair of Robbins diligently visited my house sometime back for a few days and explored the possibility of building their nest on a fan, which was not to be. And then I left for Bangalore. There I got a small, hangable bird house, and some birds enjoyed the food and water, of course along with some squirrels.

Great poem Aniruddha! The mankind's greed must seem very strange and stupid to all the birds and animals
