Such exciting and happy days
No two days ever predictable or the same
Where we would run in the garden and play games
Where we would build a tent of blankets
And play throw and catch with each other
With my soulmate and number one brother.
In the summertime we would cycle
All along the cycle tracks around town
We would speed for miles around
As if trying not to be found
Our exhilaration and cheers all too loud
Our cycling adventures to make us proud.
Playing down the street with our friend Jack
We would buy candy at the newsagent
And treat ourselves to delightful sweets
And play and see who could shout the loudest
Our childhood voices echoing down the street
And the sunshine park where we would meet.
Growing up with an Alsatian dog
We would take her for long walks
Both day and night and we would talk
While playing catch with our special dog
Our pet loving her abundance of toys
And in our dog's playfulness we'd find joy.
Having fun riding the airbed down the stairs
We also loved our toys: my Sindy dolls especially
My brother loving Lego kits and action man
Where we let our imagination run away without a care
And I also loved drawing and colouring pictures from my mind
Crayola Crayons the way I expressed myself as a child.
Every weekend visiting Patricia in her apartment
I would have my hair plaited and combed
While watching television later than allowed
My parents knowing I was safe with Patricia
Having known her from living next door
My presence no one did or will ever ignore.
School was routine and I learnt a lot
Knowledge that helps me deal with today
And I also learnt from church how to faithfully pray
Time going on and on: earth never stopping
But I lived a happy life with friends and family
And my memories no one can ever steal.
