Winnie-The-Pooh Poem by Adrian Flett

Winnie-The-Pooh

Rating: 5.0

WINNIE-THE-POOH
is turning ninety two
So what can we do?
Say thanks to A A Milne, for you.

1926 October fourteen
you came into being
since then your fame has been
as huge as ever we've seen.

This now famous bear
has been everywhere.
Age hasn't shown its wear
or its tear.

In languages remote
your story is often spoke,
All fans remain devoted
in long years never out voted.

Chris Robin, Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger
all swell the cast make it bigger
but you remain, as I figure,
the icon that will linger,
always.

WOW! This is our childhood Bear, the only truly play mate. You created an amazing tribute, this is ridiculous brilliant! I have enjoyed very much this lovely childhood memory poem. Thank you so much. I must admit that your lines: In languages remote, your story is often spoke, Please, do not continue to rhyme at the expense of something, your poem is just as lovely, when that line would be: your story is often spoken.

You're most welcome for your attentive response, Adrian. Even for my three sons, now grown and have their own partners, I bought for them brand new books.

Thanks Sylvia, I take your point about rhyme and the bending of language to suit the case, thanks for that and for reading the poem so carefully. It is really a fun thing about that amazing creation by A A Milne.
