Yourself Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Yourself

Somewhere in your heart
resides a city.
I imagine it to be like any other city.
Places to go. Things to do.
Things always in a certain motion
Things always in a rush.
Among the city in your heart
I imagine there is a place unlike
Any other place.
Even you need a place you can
Disappear to, or go to take your
Mind off of everything.
Whether it's a certain street
Or a view that centers
everything that's gotten off
track.
That's the place I'd hope to
bump into you.
A friendly stranger that suddenly becomes more.
A place where you can let go &
truly be yourself
Without having to strip parts of
yourself; remembering which part
Was given to who.
The world too, will be strong and go on.
You're safe here. You can take a breath
Here,
You can be yourself.
Somewhere in your heart
Resides a city
That calls for your return
